Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I START THE HOME RENOVATION OR CUSTOM BUILD PROCESS?

Schedule a consultation with our team. We’ll meet in person to discuss your needs and vision, and provide you with a design and estimate for your project.

WHAT TYPES OF HOME RENOVATION PROJECTS DO YOU SPECIALIZE IN?

We renovate any part of a home, including kitchens, bathrooms, basements, entire homes, home exteriors, patios, decks and landscapes.

HOW LONG DOES A TYPICAL HOME RENOVATION OR CUSTOM HOME BUILD TAKE?

The timeline of your project depends on the scope of your project. We’ll establish a timeline before we start. We’ll also keep you updated on any changes throughout your project process.

HOW MUCH DOES A HOME RENOVATION COST?

The cost of any home renovation depends on the size of the project, the materials used, and your desired finishes. We’ll provide you with detailed quotes based on your specific home renovation requirements.

ARE YOU LICENSED AND INSURED?

Yes, we are both licensed and insured to ensure the safety and security of your home and our team members.

CAN YOU HELP WITH THE DESIGN OF MY CUSTOM BUILD HOME OR RENOVATION PROJECT?

Absolutely! We work with skilled Interior Design Professionals who can assist you in creating a design plan that aligns with your style and vision.

DO I NEED TO OBTAIN PERMITS FOR MY PROJECT?

A building permit is required for all formal construction projects and most renovation changes to the house. To obtain a permit, architectural drawings and building plans will need to be submitted to the municipality. We can help guide you through this process to obtain necessary permits.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE CHANGES OR UNFORSEEN ISSUES DURING MY RENOVATION?

We pride ourselves in honest, open, and transparent communication with all our clients. If a change is needed during your home renovation, we’ll discuss it with you and provide you with solutions.

CAN I STAY IN MY HOME DURING MY RENOVATION?

Yes and No. Again, this decision is based on the extent of the work that needs to be done within the home. For the safety of all occupants, you may need to vacate the premises during the renovation. Depending on the project, a portion of the house may be partitioned off, allowing the occupants to remain living in the home. Talk to your project manager during your design consultation to come up with a feasible plan for you and your family.

WILL MY BELONGINGS BE SAFE DURING THE RENOVATION?

Yes, your possessions and belongings will be safe during the construction or renovation period. Otte2Know Construction and Design recommends removing or covering items that can be adversely affected by the microscopic dirt particles that become airborne during a construction or renovation work. This can include, but is not limited to, furnishings, electronics, appliances, and household goods. We also recommend storing away any valuable possesions during the construction project as the doors may be open throughout the day as we bring supplies and materials in and out.

HOW CAN I BE ASSURED ABOUT THE QUALITY?

The quality of work performed by Otte2Know Construction and Design team is guaranteed through our business. All members of the team understand and follow the Building Code and city by-laws to ensure each aspect of the project is done to the highest standards. We also vet each subcontractor we hire to ensure they meet the quality standards of our business.

WHAT WARRANTIES OR GUARANTEES DO YOU OFFER ON YOUR WORK?

We stand behind the quality of our workmanship. Specific warranties vary by project, and details are provided in our contract. We do offer Progressive Home Warranty as an option to our clients.
